Wheaton Jaycees Fourth of July Parade Contract
Please inform all of your participants of the rules below.
Thank you for your cooperation! Above all else, have a great time
and enjoy the parade!
Rules for all entries
-
Throwing candy along the parade route is prohibited.
Children could run in front of vehicles to pick up candy on the street.
Walkers must hand-out candy or approved novelty items at the curbside
in a safe manner. Your participation in next year's parade will be
denied if your group is identified as having ignored this rule.
-
People providing hand-outs must not slow down the parade
and must keep up with the rest of their entry. They are not allowed
to hand-out in front of or behind other entries.
-
No water guns or super soakers are allowed along the parade
route. The police may confiscate them.
-
A large number of corner marshals will be present along the
parade route to ensure safety and to keep the parade moving. You
are required to follow their instructions. Be respectful and cooperative
with these volunteers and the police that will be assisting them.
-
The Wheaton Jaycees Fourth of July Committee is not responsible
for any of your entry’s actions.
-
Your entry is contingent on the return of a signed parade
participation contract.
Rules for political entries
-
Political candidate entries are limited to 15 people
per candidate and entrance fee and to 1 vehilcle or float.
The limit to the number of people includes banner carriers, walkers, float
riders, drivers, and technical support. Any extra supporters will
be required to march with the entry of their political party.
-
No negative campaigning is allowed. The Fourth of July is
about celebrating. Protesting can be done at other venues.
The rules above are based on community feedback. It
is strongly suggested that your entry follow the spirit of these rules
and not try to work around them. If your entry pushes the limits
of these rules, your constituants will assume that the rules have been
broken.
Rules for business entries
-
In the spirit of the holiday, do something in your entry
to celebrate the day. Don't just put a truck in the parade.
It must be decorated.
-
Business entries are allowed a maximum of 3 non-float related
vehicles.
Entry fees
Community Group/not-for-profit group: $25
(church, neighborhood, & summer activity)
Businesses / Each political office holder or candidate
/ Political parties: $150

I acknowledge that I have read and agree to the rules
as set forth by the 2008 Wheaton Jaycees Fourth of July Committee.
I understand that that non-compliance with these rules may determine my

of July parade.
